Was Jesus Born to Save Whores Specifically?
As a matter of fact, in John 13:3-17 Jesus rose from his last Passover supper, "laid aside his garments and girded himself with a towel. Then he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded". At this point he is naked, washing the "feet" of his disciples. ("Feet" in Hebrew has two meanings, as in the Book of Ruth) Simon Peter is aghast that Jesus would insist on sharing the social location of whores (John 13:8). Now we know, though some are free to interpret away "feet", we are free to believe Jesus embraced the status and actions of whores as his own. God sent the son into the world to save whores, and not just for heaven.
God knows whores have always been the architects of the Human capacity to support prolonged childhoods (to develop that brain). But let us just focus on the evidence from the World of Jesus. During the reigns of the Kings Jehu, Hezekiah and Josiah, Israel and Judah lost wars with the Mesopotamian Empires. (By the way, these are the only three Kings the Prophets approve of.) There were so many Assyrian and Babylonian deportations from the Levant that Aramaic became the dominant language of Mesopotamia by the 7th century BC. Even low ranking soldiers acquired Hebrew captives to sell to middle class Babylonians who rented them out as cobblers or prostitutes. (Unlike the Romans, respectable Babylonians did not do their own whoring.) So the arch enemy of Revelation, the whore of Babylon, is none other than John's great great (x 6) grandmother. Abraham states in Genesis 20:13 that Sarah has been whoring since he left his father's house, which is to say from one end of the fertile crescent to the other.
If Jesus had been a girl, as a female bastard marriage was out of the question. It would be taken for granted that a female Jesus was a whore. As it is, second century Jews identify Jesus as a "whoreson" (the only extra biblical testimony from possible eye witnesses). In the ancient world, only engaged and married women could commit adultery, along with the associated man. Poaching upon another man's property, i.e. adultery, was the only crime against God other than Murder. Mary was chosen to be the Mother of Jesus Christ for a reason, and it wasn't her innocence.
If God does not hate Whores, who does?
The Prophets. It's good to know that the Old Testament is no older than the New Testament. Yes, all that pornographic hatred was put together in the 2nd-3rd century AD by the Rabbis (and then ratified by the Priests). They used sources from the Hellenic period preserved for us today by an extremist sect at Qumran. This library is called "the Dead Sea Scrolls". Versions of all the books of the bible were found there (except Esther), as well as many other "scriptures". But this extremist sect and their obsession with purity led the Jewish people to revolt against the Romans. And what a disaster that was! Applying Deuteronomy 18:21, this extremist sect was not prophetic nor speaking for God, and their literature is equally suspect. Nevertheless both the Priests and the Rabbis wrapped the Torah/Gospels inside a canon that included the whore hating misogynist elements found in this discredited library. The consequences were not restricted to women. Refusing to pay taxes and fight for ones country is also a religious privilege taken at the expense of the rest of us. (That's how "citizens" became "serfs" and in came the dark ages. The Church sought to save your soul, but infrastructure and defense? Not so much. Not at all really.)
In John 8:48-49 Jesus will not deny that he is a Samaritan. Samaritans accept only the Torah, the Pentateuch only. When we follow Jesus, we also can reclaim the choice to disregard the priest defined canon. Jesus gave us the four Gospels, the Gospels only.
Maggie McNeil has created the only resource I recommend for honest information on prostitution. Her site is called The Honest Courtesan, Frank commentary from a retired call girl. Although secular, the link above demonstrates more Biblical Literacy than I've ever encountered in Sunday School. Thank You Maggie!
